It would be benefitial to post information such as what happens to the collar bone if it is healed using the figure 8 cast. The bone actually gets shorter because of the way it is set by a doctor. Does the bone grow back to its original lenght after some time ? People with such knowledge please post here
Pain
[edit]Me and my friend have both broken our clavicle before, me most recently (only weeks ago). Do you know the feeling you get in your finger right before you crack it, the akward, uncomfortable feeling. Well thats kind of what it feels like in the first few weeks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Steveo.placebo (talk • contribs) 17:30, August 21, 2007 (UTC).
Figure 8 cast
[edit]I had a comminuted clavicle fracture as a child. I got a figure 8 cast, and while my clavicle wasn't noticeably shortened, there is an irregular lump on the bone where it fused back together, with a groove in the center.--71.150.249.248 (talk) 05:32, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

[edit]The following corrections should be made to the article to improve its content.
Although images are a very useful tool, there are far too many images in this article. The biggest problem with the number of these images, is that they are all, only x-ray images, many poor ones, with no directional arrows. These would be acceptable if they were better images, and more aesthetically pleasing, in addition to more articles that would act as a learning aid for the other sections of the article.
References are not listed in nearly every section, to substantiate claims. It is important to do so, in order to avoid unintentional plagiarism.
There should not be external links listed in the prognosis section. If they are valid, reliable sources, they should be moved to the reference section at the bottom.
The epidemiology section is reserved for the statistical data reporting on the frequency, prevalence, incidence, etc. Move the second paragraph to another section and add actual statistical data.
Prevention is missing and should be added.
The following are positive points of this article.
The treatment section is well-developed, with exceptional detail.
The prognosis section is well written and developed, and simply needs the links moved.
References are valid and reliable. They are great sources, but could use a few more in epidemiology and other sections.

Peer Review 1. The formatting of the page looks good. It flows well. 2. The treatment has a lot of well written content. It is very detailed and informative. 3. The signs and symptoms are clearly stated. The bullet points help in this area. 4. The definition of a clavicle fracture could be more detailed. It just states that it is a bone fracture and not a break. 5. The pictures are all x-rays and there are no pictures of clavicle bone or anything else that would help to visualize the injury. Also, they need to be labeled more clearly. 6. The page is missing prevention and mechanism of injury. These should be added to the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kin412cf (talk • contribs) 19:54, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
3 positives: 1.The pictures are all x-ray of the fracture. There are six pictures in this article and they are all very representative of the injury. 2.The signs and symptoms section uses bullet style so that it is easy to read and readers can quickly gain the relevant information. It is terse but at the same time encompass most of the 3. necessary information. 4.The surgical part of the treatment section is detailed. It listed 5 indication for surgery and a brief description of the surgical procedure. 3 problems. 1.The diagnosis part is too short. It could have been longer and give some information of how to diagnosis through physical examination. 2.On the nonoperative part of the surgery, it mentions the term non-union, but does not explain the term. The treatment part could also include physical therapy. 3.The history section at the end of the article provided some interesting information about the clavicle fracture, but it should have been placed on top of the article, not the very end. The information in that section could be written in a way that is more relevant to the article. Kin412a (talk) 08:21, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
